A sail and an aerodynamic shape: our secrets against the wind
TEKNOWIND is a brand that was born from an idea, the fruit of our team’s decades of experience in the field of aerodynamics and design.
Always looking for innovative technical solutions, our design office has patented a system thanks to which it has been able to test the resistance of its parasols with winds of up to 80 KM/h.
The particular aerodynamic shape of the parasol, tested in the Wind tunnel of the University of Perugia, together with the structural characteristics of the materials, guarantees an excellent resistance and stability even with strong wind.
The sail placed over the canopy intercepts the wind and and makes the parasol spin lightly, steering it in the right direction
… That way, partly thanks to its special aerodynamic shape, the parasol adapts to the wind without contrasting it at all.
Therefore, the position it adopts allows for the air below the canopy to outflow completely, keeping the system in a state of perfect balance.
WHAT IS THE BASIS OF THE WIND RESISTANCE SYSTEM IN TEKNOWIND PARASOLS?
GEOMETRY OF THE CANOPY
The particular shape of the canopy allows for unobstructed wind outflow. The canopy of Teknowind parasols has an asymmetric profile with linear geometry that facilitates the unobstructed outflow of the wind, minimizing the lifting and flipping effect that the wind always creates, regardless of its speed.
POSITIONING OF THE PARASOL BASED ON THE DIRECTION OF THE WIND
In order to leverage the geometry of the canopy to its full potential, the sail must be able to correctly direct the parasol in the direction of the wind. Teknowind parasols are designed to allow the structure to rotate freely in order to adapt to changes in the direction of the wind.
The sail acts as a wind vane, spinning and positioning the parasol so as to maintain an optimal aerodynamic position to guarantee constant stability despite the wind.
